About me
Hi, I'm Vidya Nimbolkar the YOGA Teacher
Who Am I?
I am a small-town girl from India, born into a middle-class family where education was seen as the only path to success. Like many others, my journey began with expectations that were not my own. I pursued a degree in Civil Engineering—not because I wanted to, but because my parents believed it was necessary for a stable future.
I completed my degree, but something was missing. I felt frustrated, restless, and deeply unsatisfied. Every day felt like a struggle. It was during this time of despair that I turned to yoga and breathing exercises, searching for peace. Slowly but surely, I noticed a change within me. I began to feel more centered, more courageous.
With this newfound clarity, I decided to pursue my true passion—fashion design. I enrolled in a diploma program, hoping to build a career in something I loved. But reality hit me hard. In India, opportunities for fashion designers were scarce, and the industry was highly competitive. I found myself at a crossroads once again, overwhelmed by uncertainty and the pressures of society.
Despite the challenges, I continued my daily yoga practice. It became my anchor, the one thing that kept me going. Then one day, a friend suggested I try for a government job. I gave it my all, studied diligently for six months, but I failed. The disappointment was crushing.
Looking back, I realized no one had ever guided me to listen to my heart or to give myself the space to explore my true potential. I was a creative soul, but societal pressure pushed me toward a path that didn’t align with who I was.
Eventually, I gave in to another expectation—I got married. For a while, I tried to silence the fire inside me, the longing to do something meaningful. But it never truly went away.
When my husband and I moved to Geneva, I found myself at another turning point. I began to reflect deeply, meditating on my thoughts and desires. And then, a clear voice from within spoke: “Pursue yoga teacher training.”
I had been practicing yoga for over ten years. It had always been a source of strength and peace for me. So, I followed that inner voice and completed my teacher training.
And that’s when everything clicked. I realized that this—teaching yoga, sharing the gift of breath and mindfulness—was what I had been searching for all along. The missing piece of my life was finally found.
Today, I stand here as a yoga teacher, living my passion and embracing my true self. After years of uncertainty and struggle, I’ve discovered who I am. And nothing feels more liberating than knowing and living your truth.
This is me. This is my journey. And it’s only the beginning.
